I have been fortunate to roll up my sleeves and contribute to the advancement of healthcare information technologies in many ways. My current knowledge and experience are an amalgam of what I have learned and built upon throughout my career.
I reengineered the entire development environment, source code management, and deployment processes of the world's largest healthcare application used in military hospitals worldwide. This earned me accolades and awards.
Worked at the forefront of healthcare technologies by providing design, development, implementation, and training for cutting edge clinical systems.
Hands-on technical implementations for some of the earliest implementations of large clinical systems at some of the largest healthcare enterprises in the US and Canada.
Wrote training materials and provided training to hospital teams worldwide in SQL, HL7, and systems management including integration, backup, and recovery.
Served as Product SME in international trade shows and as technical representative and advisor during sales interactions with some of the largest hospital enterprises. Wrote detailed documentation to identify requirements such as hardware and software items as well as personnel needed for a successful implementation and management through the product lifecycle.
During implementation site management, defined requirements, configured systems and database systems hardware and software, integrated dissimilar systems using various tools including HL7 interface engines, and helped site management select or hire personnel to form successful teams to manage all of the system components throughout implementation and systems lifecycle.
Worked closely with development teams to develop metrics for capacity, performance, and reliability.
Provided linguistic assistance in the development of language model datasets used for clinical system ontology.
Integrated eleven eastern Pennsylvania hospital systems to collaborate to use data for collective bargaining; a precursor to what has come to be known as a RHIO.
Wrote a clinical database system to support robust clinical and general operations for use in development of a system of healthcare delivery known as "Advanced Preventive Care (APC)"
Wrote replicated databases for external customers such as a cancer program in the Midwest and a health club to record members and their specific health profile to assist in routines selection.
Managed systems and data to ensure accuracy and reliability and wrote reports in Tableau, Power BI, and other tools in support of both clinical and general operations.
Managed the entire IT infrastructure for a highly regulated healthcare organization from the Internet circuit to end user support. Through diligence and planning, achieved a remarkable up-time close to 100% and with no adverse security events.
Defined IT Policies and Procedures from Governance to architecture, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance. Oversaw and maintained documentation and artifacts in support of compliance requirements based on industry standards such as NIST, HITRUST, HIPAA, and etc.
Migrated a robust on-premises Active Directory infrastructure to MS365 (E5) Azure Active Directory. This migration included all design and configuration of MS365 features including Entra, Intune, Cloud App Security, user and identity management including PIM, Purview, Exchange Online, backend configuration and support of Teams and SharePoint, AutoPilot, MS Dynamics, virtual Azure environments including various Windows VMs, SQL Server, and integrated web applications.
The above MS365 Tenant hovered around an 80% Security Score! (industry scores are typically shown to be around 40 to 45%).
Defined, configured, and managed Purview to classify information and controls to adhere to the stringent standards of data protection needed in a healthcare environment. The entire enterprise was configured for least privilege and Role Base Access Controls (RBAC) to mitigate intentional or accidental release of sensitive information.
